Our People

Michael Rickards

Michael is the founding member of Rickards Legal and was admitted to practice in 1981. Rickards Legal was established in 1983 and has operated from the same premises since that time.

In 1993, Michael was accredited by the Law Institute of Victoria as a Commercial Litigation Specialist.

Michael has acted for clients big and small in a wide range of matters including complex commercial, family and criminal matters and has developed a formidable reputation as a lawyer.

Michael has vast experience in the area of dispute resolution and prides himself on his ability to achieve successful outcomes wherever possible through strategy and negotiation to avoid costly legal disputes and legal proceedings.

Negotiation is not just about “driving a hard bargain”. It is also about being constructive and coming up with “win-win” solutions. It’s about providing answers, offering solutions and achieving outcomes.

His key to success is achieving the best and most cost effective outcome for a client. This requires a rigorous assessment of a client’s matter and an analysis as to how best to achieve that outcome.

As the principal of Rickards Legal, Michael is required to supervise, consult and oversee all areas of the practice which gives Michael a unique perspective and insight.
